Any Ideas?! |
| |
I have 2 chins who happily live together. They
come out every night and like any chins they race around chasing and
playing with each other. Even though I change their cage about and
they have lots of tubes and branches I was just wondering what else
I could do to their home to make it more fun for them. Has anyone
got any ideas for me please, it would be greatly
appreciated.Thanks. |

Is my Chinchilla's Ear infected? |
| |
Hi I got 2 chinchilla a couple of months ago (who
are both adorable) but I have recently notice Jack (white/light grey
with pink ears) has a approx 5mm high x 2mm like growth on his ear
at the base (outside)but is not discoloured. Should I be concerned?
I have tried to do some research and the only thing I can find is if
it was cancer it would be black!! Please help!!! A concerned
owner. |

Anti-social chin |
| |
I have recently bought a 1 1/2 yr old male chin.
He is very cute except for the fact that he won't play. Anytime my
husband and I are near, or he thinks we are watching from a
distance, he hides in the corner under his wheel. He darts around
the cage to get food and water. He will eat raisins and hay out of
my hand, but freaks if I try to hold him or touch him (other than
the occasional head scratch). Any ideas on how to make this
anti-social little chin more fun and playful??? Thanks! |

Serious fighting! |
| |
Hi everyone, you might remember me asking for help
wneh we were trying to find a friend for our little chin Poppy. We
found that friend in the shape of Freddie, last year, had him
neutered and then introduced him via 'trans intro' by means of
dividing their huge cage in 2. Poppy gave hima bit of a rough time
when it came to removing the wire and moving him in properly, but
they settled down and all was going well. Until yesterday. I came
running having heard my housemate screaming me, to find blood all
over the cage, and a very traumatised Freddie cowering in the
corner, missing 2 toes. I rushed him to the vets and he was treated
for shock and given painkillers, and we kept him separate in a cat
carrier last night to let him get over the shock. We still didn't
know what had happened or how he had been hurt. That became clear
when we put him back in the cage today and Poppy repeatedly and
visciously attacked him. We can't find anything he could have caught
himself on so rapidly came to the conclusion she must have bitten
him. We've divided the cage up again as before so they can see and
smell each other but she can't hurt him, and were planning to try
trans intro again from scratch over the next couple of weeks,
hopefully they can live together again but if not I guess we'll have
to buy him a new cage. Does anyone out there have any ideas what
could have caused this sudden change of heart? Or has anyone had any
experience of this and have any advice that might help us encourage
them to kiss and make up? |

Fighting Chins |
| |
Hi, can anyone help me? I have kept chins for over
15 years (mostly boys) and anywhere between numbers of 8-4 at any
one time. However, apart from two brothers who came together I
cannot seem to get them to accept each other. It would be lovely to
have them all play together but they just want to fight so I have to
keep them all in seperate cages and give them individual playtimes!
Is this because none of them have been castrated? Thanks for any
help Jules |

Swollen Chinchilla Cheek... |
| |
Hello... We recently got our chinchilla and have
visited your site for advice from time to time. Yesterday, we
noticed that our chinchilla's cheek is swollen but can't find
anything about it online. I don't think it has been using it's chew
toys as much as it should because it's teeth appear a bit longer
than when we first got him. Could this be causing the swollen cheek?
I think we'll be taking it to the vet in the morning if it doesn't
get better by then... Any tips? Thanks in advance. |
