A CHINCHILLA is a South America animal of the family of 'RODENTIA'. A nocturnal rock hopper inhabiting the High Andes, it's fur is one of most dense of any other animal (60 hairs per follicle) in the world. Disappearing rapidly in it's natural environment in great numbers. However, the chinchilla is getting more popular in captivity because of it's sensitivity, shyness and intelligence. These factors accompanied by the chinchilla's cleanliness and relatively uncomplicated lifestyle mean it has become a popular pet.

ABOUT, 'THE CHINCHILLA CHAT LINE' (C.C.L.). In February 1998, Founder/Senior Advisor, Roger Whear, inaugurated the 'Chinchilla Chat Line' (C.C.L.). Which exists to promote and expand knowledge of the chinchilla hence creating a more responsible, caring and euphoric life for them. Observational advice is provided free to all who request it and as far as we know, C.C.L. is the first organisation of it's kind in the world. We always recommend any physical ailments/problems should immediately be treated by a professional veterinary practitioner (contact details available on our site).

Finally 'Chinchilla Chat Line' is a non-commercial organisation providing us an unbiased platform for all things 'CHINCHILLA'.

Celebrating Our 10th Anniversary

CHINCHILLA CHAT LINE REACHES IT’S 11TH ANNIVERSARY

It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating our tenth anniversary and now we have reached our eleventh anniversary!!  Thinking of how we had gone from strength to strength last year ... we are proud to say we still are!  We have spread our net even further internationally (with both Roger and me receiving telephone calls, emails and letters from places as far flung as Australia, Egypt, South Africa, Brazil to name but a few).

We have also been following closely and assisting where appropriate the "Save the Wild Chinchillas" project in Chile.  We were also recognised by Pets at Home Charity for the work we do amongst the community in educating on how to give a chinchilla an euphoric life as possible.

So thank you to all our Patrons and most of all to everyone that has made it possible for us to keep gathering momentum!
