The purpose of Scoot-A-Long is to try and raise money to purchase special all terrain scooters/wheelchairs and a caravan equipped to take disabled children and adults in the Southwest on trips they might not ordinarily be able to make, like Dartmoor, Exmoor or Bodmin Moor.

BRAND NEW SCOOTER FOR SCOOT-A-LONG

Scoot-A-Long - New Mobility Scooter

It is with a great deal of thanks to the Devon Community Foundation and their grant to Scoot-a-long that we ventured up to the distant lands of Evesham where Horizon are now going as HMTE have moved to, from Falmouth.

When we got there we were Greeted By Mike and Graham Billiecliffe who between them are Horizon, we had a good meeting which resulted in us handing over a cheque to them for another new scooter as seen in the photo.

From left to right: Peter Baldacchino, Scoot-a-long Secretary, Amanda Billiecliffe,
John Duckworth, Chairperson of Scoot-a-long, Mike Billiecliffe co owner of HMTE and sitting on the scooter is none other than Graham Billiecliffe the other co owner.

The scooter will have a plaque on it stating that it had been paid for by a grant from the Devon Community Foundation and for this we are eternally grateful but we must not sit on our laurels as we still need to get more scooters.

Horizon also generously donated some prizes for either raffle or auction so we also say thanks to them as well as they have helped us from the word go and we are proud to be associated with them.

FAMILY HOLIDAY

The Scoot-A-Long committee decided this year to try to help an under privileged family and through Cornwall Social Services we offered a family of their choosing a free weeks holiday at our caravan at Tencreek near Looe.  The family arrived and Peter who was the secretary at that time (is now the current Chairman) handed over the keys and showed them round the caravan showing them how everything works and storage, etc.
We normally let the caravan out to the disabled but felt we could extend this to give this family a holiday, they had the use of all site facilities and the thing that seemed to attract them was the swimming pool which is open all year round.
From what information we received back the family enjoyed their stay so we felt it was a worth while thing to do.
